Enric Tello Aragay is doctor in contemporary history and full professor of the Economic History Department at the University of Barcelona, which he directs from 2006. He teaches courses on economic history, sustainable development, social metabolism and land-use changes, and also on methodological issues of economic or environmental history. Together with Ramon Garrabou at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, he directs a research team of agrarian and environmental historians, ecological economists and agrarian engineers that studies the long-term historical relationship between the energy or material efficiency in the biophysical flows moved by human societies on one side, and the efficiency in their land use management on the other, considering this connection as a main driving force of the landscape ecology changes experienced by the territory. He also collaborates with Catalan landscape ecologists that are applying several eco-landscape indexes and metrics to the historical land-use maps reconstructed by the research team SEJ200615108C0201GEOG.
